Photography and literature are closely related, but they are not exactly the same. How can they achieve an intertextual relationship and balance each other? In today's era of image information flooding, images are almost readily available. In addition to light and shadow composition, how can photographers break all kinds of conventions and fetters in their creations, and enhance their personal sensitivity in creation to the level of poetics?

Since 5A1 Art Space held the personal creation series "A Ballad" by photographer Wu Jianbin, the issues expressed in photography and literature have attracted attention from all aspects. For this reason, we specially invited Chun Wai, the curator of "A Ballad", to personally host this special lecture. In a simple way, he listed different types of image styles, analyzed and interpreted the visual relationship in contemporary images, and slowly led readers into a rich thinking space.

See you at 5A1 Art Space on 14:30, Feb 18th, Saturday.

Professor Lai Wei served as the host and translator

At the beginning of the lecture, Mr. Chun first raised a question for everyone.

What is good art?

1. Is there a standard?

2. How to judge the quality?

3. Is there a universal key to open these mazes?

4. How do we take good works?

5. Do black and white images have better expressive power than color photos?

In response to these questions, everyone listened carefully to Mr. Chun's generous sharing.

During the tea break, students had a free exchange

During the presentation, Mr. Chun talked about the four elements that a good work must have:

1. Theme and Content

2. Form and Appeal

3. Skills and Presentation Ability

4. Originality

Photography has three basic functions: recording, describing and expressing. From the initial recording to the expression, what is needed is the photographer's induction to the outside world and his own inner feelings. Mr. Chun used the works of many important domestic and foreign photographers in their art projects, such as: Tod Papageorge, Issei Suda, Bill Jacobson, etc., and combined with his own works in Time Travel to tell everyone how to combine literature and photography to express his own feelings about the world. At the same time, he used humorous language to talk about his many years of experience in creating abroad, which aroused great interest among the students.
